The Wizards of Spin, America's Favorite News Stars is a series of satirical stories based on real news events and the celebrity media stars who deliver the headlines and commentary to America each day. With so much interest in news and talk show celebrities, author John Ruane has created these fictional stories to capture the wackiness of the current star-crazed news cycle. About the Author The Wizards of Spin is John Ruane's third publication, but first book of satirical fiction. His first book, The Earl Campbell Story (ECW Press, 1999) is a biography detailing the life of the NFL Hall of Fame running back and his battle with panic disorder. His second book, Parish the Thought (Simon and Schuster, 2008) is a memoir of growing up Catholic in the 1960s. Ruane began his writing career at the Chicago Sun-Times and his work has appeared in several newspapers and magazines across the country. The Chicago native developed his satirical writing style at The Second City, then went on to write five critically-acclaimed stage productions, an award-winning short film, a television pilot, and even skits for the world-famous Bozo the Clown on the WGN Superstation. Ruane has been married to his high school sweetheart, Charlotte, for 29 years and they have four children. For the past 17 years, he has run his own public relations business while volunteering his time coaching youth sports. Having worked with traditional publishers in the past, I appreciated working with Second City Books. They were highly professional, very efficient and flexible. Like a traditional publisher, they managed all aspects of publishing my book, but they also provided a detailed explanation of the distribution costs and author profit on each book sold, whether paperback or Ebook. There is no mystery in the accounting. It was a very positive experience. |
